“You want to be a big shot. Well, no matter how powerful we get around here, they can still just draw a cartoon. So all you’ve done is prove to them I’m a meaningless secretary and you’re another humorless bitch.”

This episode, hell this scene, is worth an entire essay I may write at some point. But for now I’m just gonna leave a note for myself:
-Joan’s power (a 1960s female’s personal ability to handle sexual harassment in the workplace) versus Peggy’s power (the modern ability to enforce rules regarding sexual harassment): Neither are able to fix the actual problem
- New America watching Old America with a puffed up chest, readily willing to be shocked by Joey drawing a pornographic image of Joan giving a blow job to Lane; how crass! How disrespectful! If you think this subplot was designed to show you what was wrong with male/female dynamics in the workplace in the 1960s and not what is wrong with male/female dynamics in the workplace today then it is very possible you have been missing a lot of “the point” of the series so far.
